2021 Chinese’s Plastic Mold Industry Development Status And Trend

The mold industry has increased significantly in China

A mold is a special tool used in various presses and on the press, and then metal or non-metallic materials are made into parts or products of the desired shape through pressure. Chinese mold industry has been greatly developed after more than 50 years’ development which is very rapid. In 2021, the turnover of enterprises in mold industry will be 295.432 billion yuan with an increase of 30.6% compared with the previous year.
In the past two years, the market environment has undergone drastic changes and the global economic downturn has led to a decline in the export of molds, and the mold industry is facing greater challenges. But molds are one of the most important cornerstones of the industry and play a vital role in manufacturing. Even the highly industrialized developed countries are also inseparable from the development of molds. Despite the current slump, my country’s mold manufacturing has not been what it used to be, and the scale of the industry has increased significantly. With the help of Internet information technology, the mold industry still has good development prospects.

Plastic mold is consist 30% of the mold industry

The development of the mold industry has effectively promoted the rapid development of the plastic mold industry. Since the new century, plastic products have been widely used by people and factories as a major invention. Therefore, the injection mold processing industry came into being with the plastic industry. Plastic molds are an important branch of the current mold industry, accounting for about 30% of the entire mold industry. Because injection mold processing has an important core position in plastic products, it is also known as the “mother of industry”. According to the prediction of Luo Baihui, executive secretary of the International Mould and Hardware and Plastic Industry Suppliers Association, in the future mould market, the development speed of plastic moulds will be higher than that of other moulds, and the proportion in the mould industry will continue to increase.

Producers are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions

At present, my country’s plastic mold industry has obvious characteristics, that is, the development of the southeast coastal areas is faster than that of the central and western regions, and the development of the south is faster than that of the north. The most concentrated areas of plastic mold production are in the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta, accounting for more than 2/3 of the national plastic mold output value. Among them, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Guangdong plastic molds are in the forefront of the country, and their output value accounts for 70% of the national total mold output value, which has a strong regional advantage.

Wide range of applications

Plastic molds are widely used in the production of automobiles, energy, machinery, electronics, information, aerospace industries and daily necessities. According to statistics, 75% of the rough processed industrial product parts and 50% of the finished parts are formed by molds, 80% of the parts in the household appliance industry, and more than 70% of the parts in the electromechanical industry also need to be processed by molds. In the future, with the rapid development of China’s machinery, automobiles, home appliances, electronic information and building materials and other pillar industries of the national economy, the scale of my country’s plastic mold industry will continue to grow.

The shortage of talents is serious

In recent decades, the domestic plastic mold industry has developed rapidly, and the thirst and requirements for talents are also getting higher and higher. However, it is still impossible to solve this thorny problem in China, which has become the main obstacle to the development of China’s mold industry. In the production areas of molds in the coastal areas, there are different degrees of lack of recruitment.
At present, three kinds of talents make up the plastic mold industry. “Golden collar” personnel are proficient in mold design software and mold structure knowledge, and have accumulated a lot of practical experience in practical work. This kind of person is very suitable for serving as technical director or technical director of various enterprises. “Gray-collar” refers to the personnel who design and process molds in their positions. Such personnel account for 15% of the mold technology positions in the enterprise. “Blue-collar” refers to the technical employees who are responsible for the specific operation and daily maintenance of the mold in the production position, accounting for 75% of the enterprise positions, which is currently the largest demand. Lack of talent has become one of the main obstacles in the domestic mold industry.

Although my country’s plastic mold industry is developing rapidly, many design concepts and manufacturing processes of injection mold processing still need to refer to foreign experience. Therefore, China needs to combine other advanced technologies on the basis of the current research level to further strengthen my country’s injection mold processing. innovation and create more economic benefits.
